Stage 1 of the application process consists of 4 components. Applicants for Master Teacher positions must submit the following: (1) Resume, (2) Cover Letter, (3) Instructional Video, and (4) Submission of Teaching and Learning. The requirements for each component, including submission instructions, are specified in detail in the teaching application.
Candidates who are invited to Stage 2 of the process submit a recorded demo lesson (based on TEP provided lesson guidance) and participate in a formal interview with TEP’s Talent Team.
The purpose of the demo lesson is to assess the candidate’s ability to (a) effectively manage a classroom, (b) create a high-engagement learning environment and (c) provide tangible evidence of student learning. The purpose of the interview is to learn more about the candidate’s experience in the classroom, gain deeper insight into their pedagogical approach, and ascertain whether there is an appropriate fit between the candidate’s goals/growth orientation and TEP’s mission/professional development structure.
Candidates who move on to Stage 3 are welcomed to participate in the final stage: a partial day of live, on-site teaching.
Applicants will teach one or two live lessons to actual classes of TEP students, and have the opportunity to tour, debrief, and interview with TEP’s School Leaders.
As part of the invitation to this final stage, TEP will provide additional context such as demo content, grade level, and lesson outline.
TEP is currently reviewing applications on a rolling basis. If you submit both a cover letter and resume, you will receive a response from us as to whether or not you will be invited to the next stage of the process.
We ask the most promising candidates for certain positions to complete an exercise to further assess work quality and provide insight into the responsibilities associated with the role. We recognize this requires an investment of time, and we appreciate the collaboration in determining if we’re a strong fit for one another.
Based on the quality of the submitted task assignment, candidates may be advanced to participate in a formal interview with TEP’s Talent Team. This stage allows our team to learn from you and get to know you better, and allows you to gain insight into the role and our school community as a whole.
Candidates who move on to Stage 3 are welcomed to participate in the final stage: a partial or full day on-site demo.
During this final stage, you will be (a) meeting with other members of the TEP leadership team, (b) spending significant time working on various projects, and (c) interfacing with other staff members to complete a variety of activities and tasks related to the role.
The purpose of this final stage is to assess your professional expertise and ability to thrive in handling some of the day-to-day responsibilities of the position, as well as provide you with an opportunity to experience the role in a meaningful way to determine whether TEP is a good fit for you.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis for TEP’s open positions and encourage candidates to submit their application as soon as possible. There is no official deadline for applying to TEP.
We aim to respond to applicants as soon as possible. Depending on the time of the school year and the position to which one has applied, the response time may range from 1 day to several weeks.
