Andrew Buher is a Lecturer at Princeton University’s School of Public and International Affairs, where he teaches policy courses on implementation and education. He is also an Advisor at Sapien Labs, a not for profit organization founded in 2016 with a mission to understand and enable the human mind. He writes Opportunity Knocks, a weekly newsletter focused on expanding opportunities for children. Buher previously served as Chief of Staff to Chancellor Dennis Walcott and Chief Operating Officer at the New York City Department of Education under Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Appointed by US President Barack Obama, he served as a nonpartisan White House fellow at the US Department of Housing and Urban Development from 2014 to 2015. He was the founder of Opportunity Labs, a national nonprofit research and policy organization, and also serves on the Board of America’s Promise Alliance.
