Campuses

Middle School

TEP’s new middle school building is a one-of-a-kind facility for the neighborhood, one that was specially designed to enhance the school’s focus on what we call the 3 A’s—Academics, Arts, & Athletics—which are at the heart of TEP’s approach to serving its students.  Learning takes place in spacious classrooms featuring beams of natural light and comfy library nooks.  The entire 6th floor is dedicated to music, including a concert performance venue and sound-proof recording studio.  Students also spend part of their day in the cafe or adjacent outdoor terrace and garden, eating freshly prepared nutritious meals by our in-house kitchen team.  The building is conducive to physical activity; in addition to daily PE class, many extracurricular activities and assemblies occur in the huge gymnasium that can seat the entire middle school.

Beyond serving as a permanent home for TEP’s 5th through 8th grade students, the new facility is a valuable resource for the Upper Manhattan neighborhoods of Inwood & Washington Heights.  The new building aims to serve as a community hub in which residents have a physical space to engage with these 3 A’s as well, particularly with respect to community arts programs, athletic programs, and health/wellness opportunities.

Elementary School

Our very own outdoor oasis for learning!

Our Elementary School campus is located in trailers – hidden in the heart of Washington Heights.  It is the home to our 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade students. When students aren’t busy learning in their cozy classroom trailers, students branch out into the sunshine and explore the surrounding nature and enclaves of zen.  Students enjoy the fresh air – transitioning from their homeroom to their daily Specials classes, participating in PE or recreational activities on the field, gathering in community on the bleachers, or playing outside during recess.

Our Elementary School campus is also home to TEP’s first-ever school library, a campus hub created to instill a love of learning. The fiction room is filled with beautiful paintings that take students off into an imaginary world, perfect for read-alouds, storytelling, and partner reading, while the non-fiction room has desks, a reference section, and curricular materials to encourage study and research.

Early Childhood

TEP’s Early Childhood campus is home to Kindergarten and 1st grade students. Our vibrant and colorful spaces constantly reflect the learning that is taking place in each class.  The safe and nurturing environment is fostered by experts in early childhood development that is conducive to helping students thrive as they build foundational skills in reading, writing, math, and social emotional learning.  Our campus also has specially designed spaces for early childhood PE, music, and yoga classes that students transition to and from daily.
